The Yellow Canaries have not won a game in eight matches, and they could not get the better of Angers on Sunday
Nigeria international Moses Simon was on from start to finish, but Nantes could only manage a 1-1 draw at the Stade de la Beaujoire – Louis Fonteneau to Angers in a matchday 15 Ligue 1 clash.
The hosts had lost seven of the previous fifteen league matches this term and was on course to make it eight after Romain Thomas got the visitors’ noses in front in the 42nd minute.
But Charles Traore’s equalizer deep into stoppage time rescued a point for the home side and lifted them one place up to 15th on the table.
Moses Simon has not yet attained the heights of his maiden campaign in the Ligue 1, but the Nigerian winger still completed 71% of his passes against Angers and won two of his attempted five duels.
There remains room for improvement though as Simon had no shot on target, lost possession twenty times, and completed just one of three dribbles attempted.
In Portugal, a late João Pedro goal denied Chidozie Awaziem’s all the three points as Pacos de Ferreira forced Boavista to a 1-1 draw at the Estadio do Capital do Movel.
The Super Eagles defender was impressive at the heart of the visitors’ defence, helping to keep out the home side’s attack for the best part of the ninety minutes.
An Elis strike just past the hour mark handed Boavista a precious lead, but they couldn’t hold on to claim their first win in four games.
But Pedro’s 83rd-minute equalizer helped the hosts stop a horrible run of three straight defeats.
