The Nigerian international’s natural role is an attacking midfielder, but he played in an unfamiliar position for the Toffees last weekend
Alex Iwobi has said he is ready to play anywhere on the field and contribute his cause towards Everton’s objectives this season.
Iwobi has had an indifferent start to the new campaign, but he made his second Premier League start of the season in the Toffees win over Fulham last weekend.
However, the former Arsenal star played in an unfamiliar role as he was deployed as right-wing back.
Nonetheless, he did not disappoint and was one of the best players on the pitch as Everton ran out 3-2 winners at Craven Cottage.
The 24-year-old may yet again play in that same role when Everton welcome Leeds to Goodison Park, but Iwobi is not too bothered about it, and he’s ready to play anywhere.
“It is not something I have done a lot, but anywhere I am told to play, I try to do my best, Iwobi told Everton website.
“Ben [Godfrey] and James [Rodriguez] and Doucs [Doucoure] were talking to me and made it more comfortable.
“Sometimes, with my defensive position, I wouldn’t know where to be but with them helping and talking it was a lot easier.
“I will take the positives, but there are still things I have to learn if I am going to play in this position, especially defensively.
“At least, for me, playing right wing-back, the manager has in his mind, I can play anywhere on the left and right and in the middle.
“Anywhere he wants me to play, I will be able to do that job.
“And wherever I am playing I will give 100 per cent for the Club.”
The Super Eagles star had a hand in Everton’s second goal against Fulham last week, and he revealed it was because of his attacking instincts.
“I am a forward-thinking player, I like to get on the ball and express myself. “We were able to do that quite freely in the first half and had a lot of joy, Iwobi concluded.
