Alex Iwobi gave a brilliant performance as Everton secured their first win in four league games following a victory over a Fulham side that had Ola Aina in the lineup.
Iwobi played in an unorthodox position- a right wing-back- but he never put a foot wrong and even had a hand in Everton’s second.
For Aina and his Fulham teammates, it was another disappointing afternoon as they could’ve secured a point from the game.
Fulham manager, Scott Parker named the trio of Ola Aina, Ademola Lookman and Tosin Adarabioyo with all three playing for the entire duration.
It was Everton who were fast out of the blocks with Dominic Calvert Lewin putting the Toffees ahead inside the opening minute. The England international finished off a ball from Richarlison following an error from Fulham at the back.
Bobby Reid’s strike in the 15th minute drew Fulham level. However, Calvert Lewin was at it again as he scored his tenth league goal of the season to restore Everton’s lead in the 15th minute.
It came following a brilliant run from Iwobi, who released James Rodriguez before the Colombian combined with Lucas Digne, whose low cross, was turned in by Calvert Lewin.
Everton continued to dominate the game, and they doubled their advantage ten minutes before the break courtesy of an Abdoulaye Doucoure’s header.
The Toffees went into the break in control and were on course for a routine win. However, Fulham came out firing in the second half and were awarded a penalty in the 68th minute.
But their woes from 12-yards continued as Ivan Cavaleiro miscued the resulting spot-kick. Nonetheless, they got back into the game after Ruben Loftus-Cheek pulled one back in the 70th minute.
But despite their best efforts, they could not find an equaliser with Everton holding on for a precious three points.
