Terem Moffi grabbed his first goal on his league debut in France to help power Lorient to an excellent 3-1 win at Reims on Saturday afternoon.
The 21-year-old, who joined the French side a few days ago, netted his club’s third goal of the game to lift Lorient to only their second win of the seven matchday-old campaign.
Moreto Cassama opened the scoring on the quarter-hour mark for the struggling hosts at the Stade Auguste-Delaune II to go into the interval ahead of their visitors.
But Lorient roared back in the second half thanks to goals from Hamel, Wissa, and Moffi in the 80th-minute of the encounter.
Lorient announced the signing of Terem Moffi from Belgian First Division A club Kortrijk on the first of October for €8 million.
The centre-forward, the first Nigerian to play for the French club, penned a four-year deal, which is expected to keep him at Stade du Moustoir until 2024.
Moffi previously played for FK Kauno Zalgiris and FK Riteriai before teaming up with Belgian side Kortrijk in January this year for just €150,000.
The youngster will hope to follow in the footsteps of compatriot Victor Osimhen. The latter switched Belgium for France last season and went on to score 13 league goals for Lille before joining Napoli this summer.
