The Franco-German tactician has been resident in France for most of the time spent in charge of the Nigerian national team, but things are expected to change after signing a new contract in March
Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has revealed that he will be at the Stade Matmut-Atlantique to watch the match between Bordeaux and Nice, but it will be in his capacity as the number one scout of Nigerian football.
Two Nigerian stars, Josh Maja and Samuel Kalu, will be on parade for Bordeaux when Les Girondins aim for all the three points at stake against Patrick Vieria’s men.
Both attacking players have a goal each in four games for Bordeaux, but they continue to play bit-part roles in coach Jean Gasset’s set-up.
Maja has been on the pitch for just 137 minutes for Bordeaux, starting only two games, while Kalu has clocked 188 minutes, coming off the bench three times.
Maja and Kalu are likely to be named in the hosts’ starting eleven against Nice on Monday, and Rohr promises to observe both of them ahead of future engagements with the Super Eagles.
“I will be at the match because I have my job as an observer to do for the selection of Nigeria since it is a question of observing my players, Maja and Kalu, who will be on the field, I hope,” the former Bordeaux manager told ARL for Top Girondins, as per Girondins33.
“It will be a very close, balanced game, I think. Both teams need to win, so both teams should go ahead, I hope so anyway.”
Rohr invited Kalu for Nigeria’s double-header against Algeria and Tunisia next month in Austria while placing Maja on the standby list.
