Osimhen Reveals Why He Chose Napoli Despite Offers From Premier League Clubs

The Nigerian international joined the Italian side in a record-breaking move from Lille, but there were also offers from other clubs

Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen has confirmed he received offers from several Premier League clubs before deciding to sign for Napoli.

Osimhen was one of the most sought after players this summer following a brilliant season with Lille. The 21-year-old scored 18 times and provided six assists in 38 games for Les Dogues.

Following the campaign, Napoli paid a club and African record fee of 81.3 million euros to take the Super Eagles star away from Lille.

But before signing, Osimhen was linked with a move to England with reports claiming he’s holding out for a move to the Premier League.  Speaking in an interview with the Nation, Osimhen admitted he received offers from Premier League clubs, and he nursed the idea of playing in England.

“Of course, a lot predicted I’ll move to the EPL, and I also thought about going to the English Premier League myself; I had a lot of interesting offers from some clubs in the EPL, but Napoli is the best choice for me,” Osimhen said.

The former Golden Eaglets star then revealed he chose Napoli because he wants to make the most of his career.

“I choose Napoli because of the kind of great career I want to have and because of the kind of player I want to be, and I have no doubt that Napoli is the kind of club I need to be to achieve that greater heights. ”

Osimhen will begin his Serie A adventure with Napoli next weekend against Parma.
