“Playing at Old Trafford was a thing of joy” – Super Eagles goalie Francis Uzoho

Omonia FC goalkeeper Francis Uzoho has shared his experience at Old Trafford Stadium during his club’s UEFA Europa League clash with Manchester United, as reported by Soccernet.ng.

Two years ago, the Red Devils launched numerous attacks against Uzoho in a largely one-sided UEFA Europa League encounter at Old Trafford.

Despite his efforts, the goalkeeper, standing in for the team’s first choice, seemed poised to secure a clean sheet until a late goal shattered his team’s hopes.

Uzoho was hailed as the man of the match after making 12 saves that day. However, Scott McTominay’s late goal broke Omonia hearts, sealing the win for United.

Reflecting on the match, Uzoho, a Manchester United fan, expressed his disappointment with the outcome but took pride in his performance.

“I am not disappointed with the result because we had a great game, but we would have preferred to get at least a point,” Uzoho stated, as per BT Sports. “But I’m happy, it’s not an easy Stadium to play in with these big players.”

In a conversation with Soccernet.ng, Uzoho revealed his joy at representing his club admirably against Manchester United, a team he has supported since childhood.

“Yeah, it was quite an experience for me, being at Old Trafford, competing against top-level players, it was a thing of joy for me. I was really happy to be in that Stadium. And to be able to participate as well,” he expressed.

Uzoho has recently showcased his skills for his club in Cyprus, securing five clean sheets out of six games.
