Watch: “I love both” – Bayern Munich starlet Jamal Musiala refuses to pick between Germany and Nigeria

Musiala was born in Stuttgart, Germany, to a British-Nigerian Yoruba father and a German mother with Polish roots.

Germany and Bayern Munich midfielder, Jamal Musiala, has revealed his love for the nations of his parents, Nigeria and Germany, refusing to pick out the side he loves more out of respect for both nations, Soccernet.ng reports.

The versatile 21-year-old attacker is one of football’s biggest superstars and is popularly known for his ability to dribble out of tight spaces, a rare ability for tall players.

Musiala was born in Germany to a British-Nigerian father, and a German mother with Polish roots, making him eligible to represent all four countries, but he sided with Die Mannschaft.

Quizzed about what influenced his decision to represent the four-time FIFA World Cup winners, Musiala simply went with where he felt most comfortable.

“I could have played for Nigeria because it crossed my mind, and I thought about it well. I had good talks with Nigeria and Germany, So it really just came down to me and where I’d feel the most comfortable. So I decided to go with Germany,” the former Cobham academy player said as earlier reported by Soccernet.ng.

In a recent interview with famous food designer, Serge Ibaka, Musiala was asked about the country he loves the most between Nigeria and Germany.

“Out of respect, I can’t answer that. I have respect for both. I love Nigeria and Germany,” the four-time Bundesliga winner said on the How Hungry Are You show. Musiala also revealed his love for Nigerian food on the show, highlighting his love for Fufu. Nigerian-German Borussia Dortmund winger, Karim Adeyemi also reiterated his love for the meal in the past.

Musiala moved to England from Germany when he was seven years old. He played for the Chelsea and Southampton youth setup before joining Bayern Munich in 2019. He has scored 12 goals and provided eight assists in 37 games for Bayern Munich this season
