Contrary to reports in the local media, the Nigerian midfielder is yet to complete his transfer to the Serie A new boys
Despite having already passed his medicals at the club, Ogenyi Eddy Onazi’s move to Crotone is on the verge of collapse after the two parties could not agree on a suitable salary arrangement, according to the Italian news site, ilRossoblu.
A free agent after terminating his contract with Denizlispor in July, Onazi was keen to quit Turkey and return to Italy, where he made his breakthrough with Lazio.
Crotone, newly promoted to the Serie, saw in the former Lazio man international an Italian top-flight experience on a cheap and convinced him to travel to Italy.
The transfer appeared all done with images of the Nigerian international doing his medicals circulating on social media midweek.
Negotiations have, however, become complicated with the former Trabzonspor midfielder reportedly asking more than Crotone were willing to pay.
Talks continue between Onazi and the newly-promoted side, but the 27-year-old defensive midfielder may have to reduce his demands if any deal is to be struck soon.
Crotone already have in their ranks Super Eagles striker, Simy Nwankwo, who was the club’s and Serie B’s top goalscorer last season.
