Napoli president, Aurelio De Laurentis, has revealed the Gli Azzurri decided to splash the cash on Victor Osimhen because Genaro Gattuso was keen on the Sper Eagles star.

In what was one of the summer's most enthralling transfer, De Laurentis revealed that Napoli paid 80m euros including add ons for Osimhen's services- a fee that made him the fifth most expensive signing in Serie A's history.

The former Lille striker will also earn a whopping salary of 4.5m euros (2.35 billion naira) in a year, according to De Laurentis.
Speaking in an interview with Radio Kiss Kiss per Manu Lonjon, De Laurentis said: “Gattuso was very keen on the arrival of Osimhen. We will pay around 80M to Lille and between 4 and 4.5M per season to the player.”
