The former Super Eagles striker loan deal was extended until January, and he justified Solskjaer’s trust in him with a goal in the Red Devils FA Cup quarter-final clash against Norwich

Odion Ighalo opened the scoring for Manchester United in their FA Cup quarter-final clash against Norwich at Carrow Road on Saturday evening.

The 31-year-old was making just his fourth start since his loan move from Shanghai Shenhua, and he marked with his fifth goal.

Following a goalless first-half, Ighalo opened the scoring for United six minutes after the break, poaching home from close range after Norwich’s defence failed to clear a Luke Shaw cross.

Ighalo has settled in brilliantly at Old Trafford with his goal against Norwich his fifth in 11 games for the Red Devils.

However, Norwich drew level fifteen minutes from time through a Todd Cantwell’s finish. But in the 89th minute, the home side had Timm Klose sent off.

Solskjaer’s men, however, failed to take advantage of the extra man, and the match went into extra- time.
