The Super Eagles winger form has improved since the restart, and once again he gave another brilliant performance as Villarreal made it four wins from five since La Liga returned.
Javi Calleja handed Samuel Chukwueze a start, and he justified his manager’s faith in him with another assured performance in the Yellow Submarines victory over Valencia.
Although Chukwueze did not score in the game, he was impressive for the 89 minutes he played, proving to be a tough nut to crack for Valencia’s defenders.
Villarreal started well, and it did not take long before they went ahead courtesy of a Paco Alcacer’s 14th-minute strike.
Alcacer, a former Valencia star, put his current side in front with a beautiful finish after he was set up perfectly by Gerard Moreno.
The provider for the first goal will then go on to double Villarreal’s lead just a minute before the break. The 28-year-old fired in a superb volley from the edge of the box following a brilliant lay off from Santi Carzola.
Valencia tried to find a way back into the game after the break, but it was Villarreal who went close to finding the back of the net.
The win was Villarreal’s fourth in five games since La Liga returned from the coronavirus enforced break. The Yellow Submarines are now just two points off Sevilla in fourth place.
