There may not be on-field action due to the coronavirus pandemic, but Chelsea are making plans off the pitch after reports emerged that they have contacted Lille for the services of Victor Osimhen.
According to Le10Sport, Chelsea have contacted Lille’s representatives over the potential transfer of the Super Eagles star ahead of next season.
The Blues are hopeful their previous relationship with Les Dogues will give them the edge over other clubs in the race to sign Osimhen.
The Nigeria international is a wanted man across Europe, and his case is similar to that of Eden Hazard when he was at Stade Pierre Mauroy.
The Real Madrid star was the subject of a transfer battle in 2012, but it was Chelsea who won the race for his signature.
The Blues are now hoping the existing relationship will make negotiations for Osimhen with Lille’s officials easier.
However, if Chelsea are to buy the former Golden Eaglets star, it will be for big money. Although Lille bought him from Royal Charleroi for just 13m euros, Osimhen value has skyrocketed following his impressive performance in his debut season in France.
The 21-year-old has scored 18 times and provided six assists in 38 games for Les Dogues this season, which means any move away from the club will be for a substantial fee.
