The Coronavirus has shut down almost all leagues in Europe, but about 75% of this season’s matches have been played.

Recently, Soccernet.ng have been taking a look at how Nigerian stars have performed in some of Europe’s major leagues.

Having taken a look at players in the UK, Italy and France, our train moves to Spain where we will cast an eye on the performances of some Nigerian stars in the country.

Ramon Azeez (Granada La Liga): The former Almeria star joined Granada from Lugo in January 2019. He is one of Nazaries best players this campaign with two goals and two assists from 21 appearances.  His performances for Granada has also earned him a recall back to the Super Eagles set-up.

Samuel Chukwueze (Villarreal, La Liga): Chukwueze caught the world’s attention in what his debut season last campaign.  His brilliant displays for the Yellow Submarines last season earned him the 9th spot in the Kopa Trophy awards.

However, Chukwueze has failed to reach the heights of last season with the 20-year-old struggling for form. Chukwueze has made 30 appearances in all competitions for Villarreal this season, but just 15 have been starts. The Nigeria international has managed only four goals and four assists in those games.

Oghenekaro Etebo (Getafe, La Liga): Etebo had a difficult start to the season as he battled with injuries and lack of minutes at Stoke City.

However, he has been able to get his career back on track following a loan move to Getafe in January. Since joining the high flying Azulones, Etebo has made six La Liga appearances and also earned a recall to the Super Eagles team.

Chidozie Awaziem (Leganes, La Liga): One of the two Nigerians that plays for Leganes. Awaziem is in his second year at the Estadio Municipal de Butarque after spending last season on loan from Porto.

Awaziem’s Leganes sit in 19th place on the La Liga table, but he’s one of the team’s regulars with 21 appearances this season.

Kenneth Omeruo (Leganes, La Liga): The other Nigerian playing with Leganes. Omeruo spent last season on loan with Los Pepineros before signing permanently last Summer.

He has played 21 times for the side, scoring one goal. Both Omeruo and Awaziem will be hoping for an improvement in Leganes form when the league resumes from the Coronavirus break.
