Despite spending more time at his new hobby, golf, the former Super Eagles goaltender insists he is not ready to quit football.
One of Nigeria’s greatest ever goalkeepers, Enyeama, maintains that his newfound love for golf has not drained his appetite for the sports that brought him fame and fortune, as he is still on the lookout for playing opportunities.
The 2013 African Cup of Nations winner is one of Nigeria’s most decorated stars in history, having won titles with Enyimba International, Hapoel Tel-Aviv, Maccabi Tel-Aviv, and the Nigeria national football team.
However, the two-time CAF Champions League Player of the Year has been without a club since French side Lille released him in August 2018.
Nearly three years after last appearing in a competitive match and five years after quitting the Super Eagles, Enyeama refuses to say his goodbye to football
“I enjoy playing golf, so I understand the confusion. I have been staying in shape,” Enyeama told FrunSports.
“It is no secret that I love football, and I am still in contention to play again.”
The 37-year-old is the country’s joint most capped player of all time with 101 caps, a record he shares with Joseph Yobo.
