The Blues had some decisions against them in the clash against Manchester United, and that played a part in the 2-0 loss according to Frank Lampard.
Man Utd completed a league double over their hosts for the first time in 30 years courtesy of goals from Anthony Martial and Harry Maguire.
However, the latter could have been sent off in the first half for a lunge on Michy Batshuayi. Chelsea also had two goals disallowed by the Video Assistant Replay (VAR).
Olivier Giroud’s header was flagged off for offside, but it was Kourt Zouma’s equaliser that caused controversy on the night. The France international headed home from a Willian corner, but it was disallowed on VAR review after Cesar Azpilicueta pushed Brandon Williams in the build-up.
However, replays showed the Spaniard was pushed by Fred first, which resulted in him barging into Williams. Speaking after the match, Lampard revealed the two decisions could have changed the game.
I’ve seen it again, and VAR is there for that, and they didn’t get it right. Harry Maguire should have been sent off, that’s clear, and that obviously changes the game,” Lampard told BBC.
On Zouma’s goal, Lampard said: ”Azpilicueta gets a shove in the back – it’s not clear, it’s not obvious, Azpi has been pushed in the back.”
Meanwhile, the former England international also confirmed Kante suffered an abductor injury, and it doesn’t look good.
“It’s an adductor injury. It doesn’t look good, but he will have a scan,” Lampard said in quotes obtained from football.london
Kante is likely to miss Chelsea’s clash against Tottenham on Saturday, and next week’s champions league clash against Bayern Munich.
