The Reds are reportedly interested in the Nigeria international and could make a move for him when the transfer window opens in the Summer.

But Lille president, Gerard Lopez, has told Liverpool to shelve the plan as Osimhen will not be leaving the Stade Pierre Mauroy at the end of the season.

Osimhen joined Les Dogues from Royal Charleroi for a reported fee of 13m euros last summer, and he has taken the French top-flight by storm.  The 21-year-old has been a nightmare for defenders and goalkeepers in Ligue 1.

The Super Eagles star has scored 18 times in 36 appearances for Christophe Galtier’s side this season. He is currently the fourth-highest goalscorer in French’s top division.

His form has alerted a majority of Europe’s topsides with Liverpool reportedly leading the chase. According to the Express, Klopp was eager to bring Osimhen in last month, but Osimhen ended up staying at Lille.

The German could be back in the summer again, but Les Dogues president has told Liverpool to forget about it, saying Osimhen will still be at the club next season.

Osimhen will be from Lille next season. Afterwards, there are factors that I cannot control, ” Lopez told RTL in quotes gotten from le10Sport.

However, he hinted they might be forced after next season if a reasonable offer arrives for the 21-year-old.

“I do not control the fact that a club arrives and offers a salary six or eight times higher than what we can offer. But I think sometimes it’s better not to take a big salary and wait until next season. ”
