The Super Eagles star is set to be sanctioned by his club after failing to return for the club’s winter training camp. Although Ligue 1 clubs are currently on winter break, Bordeaux resumed training on December 28 with Samuel Kalu failing to turn up.
According to BBC journalist Shina Okeleji, the Nigerian international failed to show up because he had problems with his passports. But Les Girondins’ manager Paulo Sousa is having none of it and has confirmed the 22-year-old will be sanctioned.
“Each player who tries to fake things or who does not have adequate responsibility towards the club must be punished.”

The latest situation comes after reports emerged the club are looking to offload the former Gent star this January. Kalu has played 18 times for Bordeaux this season, but the club plan to sell him this winter window.
His latest act may be the final straw for the club who paid 8.5m euros to Gent for his services in 2018.
