Reports: Manchester United Favourite To Land Nigerian Talent On Club Record Deal

Ever since scoring a brace at the Santiago Bernabeu on Match Day 2 of the UEFA Champions League, Nigeria international Emmanuel Dennis has been high on the transfer list of several English clubs with Man United reportedly the latest side interested in signing the youngster.

With the likes of Leicester City and Southampton reportedly scrambling for the signature of Emmanuel Dennis, it is understood that Manchester United have jumped to the front of the queue for the €30 million-rated forward, according to reports in the Belgium media.

The 22-year-old scored a brilliant back-heeled goal at the weekend – an impudent finish similar to the one pulled off by Barcelona’s Luis Suarez against Mallorca – with Manchester United scouts believed to be in the stands watching him.

Dennis has come a long way since arriving Europe as a starry-eyed teenager. His first stop was at Zorya Luhansk where his 6 goals in his debut season helped the Ukrainian club finish third in the Premier League.

Brugge quickly stepped in and parted with €1.2 million to take the youngster back to Belgium. The investment soon paid off as the young Nigerian scored 7 goals in the league – 12 in all competitions – to lift Club Brugge to the league title in his first year there.

Brugge, runners-up in the Jupiler League last term and favourites to reclaim the title this term, are believed to be willing to listen to offers around the 30 million euros-mark for Dennis. That sum will be more than the club’s record sale – the €25 million received for the transfer of Brazil’s Wesley Moraes to Aston Villa.

Emmanuel Bonaventure Dennis, who can play both as a winger and a striker, made his Super Eagles debut in September in Nigeria’s 2-2 draw versus Brazil. He came on as an 82nd-minute substitute for Villarreal’s Samuel Chukwueze.
