According to reports, Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta is interested in signing Super Eagles star Wilfred Ndidi when the transfer window opens in January.
Arteta, who recently took over from sacked manager, Unai Emery, was in attendance to watch the Gunners goalless draw against Everton at Goodison Park in Saturday’s Premier League.
Having highlighted the areas that must be fixed once the transfer window opens, the former Manchester City assistant coach is willing to offer Leicester City Granit Xhaka plus £40m for Wilfred Ndidi.
Arsenal’s defensive struggles are well known, and according to Dailymail, the Nigerian international is one of the players Arteta has identified to solve that problem.
The 23-year-old has been an integral part of Leicester’s surge up to second in the Premier League table, with 17 appearances and two goals so far this campaign.
He also played a key role in the Foxes’ 2-0 win over Arsenal when the two teams met in the Premier League on November 9, 2019, at the King Power Stadium.
It’s not yet known if Leicester City manager, Brendan Rodgers will be willing to accept Arteta’s tempting offers as the January transfer window draws closer.
