The Golden Eaglets have been decent so far at the ongoing FIFA U-17 World Cup, winning two out of their three group matches to earn a date with the Netherlands in the second round tie
However, the team’s technical crew have been warned to be wary of the Dutch’s expansive pattern of play.
According to former Monaco and Super Eagles forward, Victor Ikpeba, he advises the team to be clinical in front of goal and prevent the Dutch side from dominating possession.
He made this known in a Supersports Monday Football Programme that was monitored by Soccernet.ng.
“Playing against the Netherlands, the custodian of ‘Total Football’, the Dutch may have the edge over Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets but we have sheer physicality and can overcome them.
“Looking at the first goal we (Nigeria) conceded, you could see that communication is lacking but you can’t really fault the boys. Though there’s a lot of work to be done.
“They won two games before losing to Australia. It’s not easy to motivate these boys. These things happen and it just shows the progress that the Australian youth system has made.”
