In a bid to strengthen his team for the tough task ahead, Chelsea manager, Frank Lampard has decided to comb Serie A side Lazio in search of a perfect midfielder that would compliment the workload of N’golo Kante, Jorginho and others.
And according to reports, Milinkovic-Savic is ‘high’ on Lampard’s shortlist as he wants to strengthen Chelsea’s midfield options.
Chelsea are currently banned from signing players in the January transfer window, although their appeal will be heard by the Court of Arbitration for Sport on November 20.
Should Chelsea win their appeal, it would mean that they would be free to sign players in the upcoming window.
The report also claims that Chelsea will submit an offer to Lazio in January, providing their ban is lifted. Milinkovic-Savic, who has attracted interest from Manchester United in the past, is an integral part of Lazio’s midfield.
Lazio president Claudio Lotito admitted in the summer that he was open to selling Milinkovic-Savic but the Italian club value the Serbia international at around €100 million (£84m).
Last month, reports claimed that Chelsea had sent scouts to monitor Milinkovic-Savic ahead of a potential bid.
