It was a night of mixed fortunes for Super Eagles stars that were in action in the French League Cup and Spanish La Liga respectively.
In France, Super Eagles winger, Moses Simon was in red hot form as he scored a first half hat-trick in Nantes 8-0 win over Paris FC. The former Gent winger put Nantes ahead in the 22nd minute before Thody Elie Youan doubled the lead of Les Canaries in the 30th minute.
Simon got his second and Nantes third of the game five minutes later before Ludovic Blas added Nantes fourth a minute later. The Nigerian international completed his hat-trick in the 43rd minute as Nantes went into the break with a 5-0 lead.
Further goals from Imran Louza, Ludovic Blas and Mehdi Abeid completed an emphatic victory for Nantes but it was Simon who grabbed the headlines.
Meanwhile, in Spain, the duo of Kenneth Omeruo and Chidozie Awaziem were taught a football lesson as Real Madrid walloped Leganes 5-0.
The Super Eagles stars played for the whole 90 minutes but were powerless to stop a rampaging Madrid side. Goals from Rodrygo, Toni Kroos, Sergio Ramos, Benzema and Jovic gave Zidane a much needed victory. The win puts Madrid in second place, one point behind Barcelona, while Leganes remain bottom with five points from 11 games.
