It was a beautiful night of football for Nantes as Moses Simon’s incredible first half hat trick helped The Canaries to a stunning 8-0 triumph over lower league side Paris FC, however Nantes boss Gourcuff praised three other stars who impressed in the encounter.
The Nigeria international, 24, scored the opener for Nantes in the 22nd minute, netted his second soon after before completing his hat-trick just before the break to help the hosts clinch a 5-0 first half lead.
However, FC Nantes manager Christian Gourcuff has lauded the superb qualities of Imran Louza, Elijah Youan and Thomas Basila after the trio’s positive displays in the huge League Cup victory at the La Beaujoire-Louis Fonteneau.
“It’s not common for the score, it’s a beautiful evening, we took the game by the right end, and even if we do not realize our dominance quickly, we scored and the second goal came quickly,” the Nantes coach told the press at the final whistle as observed by Soccernet.ng.
“Eight goals, some good actions … we’re on the right track, the challenge at half-time was to continue, not to fall into individualism, we stayed very collective, with alternating construction and speed.
“Imran Louza confirmed his qualities, Elijah Youan brought us mobility and Thomas Basila – though ill – has fulfilled his role with great sobriety.
“Collectively, it creates something. We saw players who wanted to build something together, fun, emotions … it encourages them to find these emotions on other matches and training.
“I first of all remember the collective interest of such a service. It is also good to re-trigger a victory, for morale and for confidence. Even if each match has its truth. The team remained very rigorous in the second half.”
Simon Moses is currently on a season-long loan at FC Nantes from La Liga side, Levante.
