Barcelona have suffered a huge setback ahead of La Liga game against Valencia on Saturday and champions league opener against Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday.
According to reports, the Blaugrana are set to be without Lionel Messi for the two clashes as he hasn’t recovered yet from the calf injury that has kept him out for this season.
Messi has yet to feature for the Catalan side after picking up an injury during preseason, and in his absence, Barcelona have struggled.
In three La Liga games, the champions have picked up just four points out of a possible nine. The Argentina international was expected to make his return in Barcelona’s 2-2 draw with Osasuna last time out, but the club decided not to rush him back.
It was then assumed he would have fully recovered following the international break, but according to reports, the 32-year-old is likely to face another month on the sidelines, and that will keep him out of action till the end of the month.
His absence will be a major blow for Ernesto Valverde who has seen his side stuttered in their first three-match. However, Luis Suarez is expected to return this weekend, but Ousmane Dembele is still ruled out.
