Super Eagles winger, Alex Iwobi is set for his first Everton start when the Toffees visit Lincoln City in today’s (Wednesday) Carabao Cup tie at the Sincil Bank Stadium.
Iwobi made his first appearance for the Toffees since leaving Arsenal from the bench in last week Friday’s 2-0 loss against Aston Villa in the Premier League.
Everton manager, Marco Silva will be banking on Iwobi to lead his team to victory as he could possibly rest some of the established players for the game ahead of Sunday’s EPL clash against Wolves.
The Nigerian international would be keen to use the Lincoln game to put himself in the spotlight for a starting shirt after enjoying a successful stint at Arsenal.
Meanwhile, another Super Eagles forward, Kelechi Iheanacho will also be hoping for a first appearance of the season when Leicester City travel to the North-East to face Newcastle United at the St. James’ Park today.
Iheanacho, who narrowly missed out in the Super Eagles squad that won a bronze medal at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt after beating Tunisia 1-0 in the Third-Place match, will be aiming to take advantage of this rare opportunity.
Iheanacho was left out of the Foxes squad against Sheffield Wednesday but was an unused substitute in their other two games against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Chelsea.
