Jose Mourinho believes Chelsea manager Frank Lampard choice of players in his team’s embarrassing loss to Manchester United was not the right one, but that was not the only reason they lost.

Lampard’s reign has Blues manager got off to a bad start as they were thrashed 4-0 by United in the premier league clash between the two sides at Old Trafford.

A brace from Marcus Rashford along with goals from Anthony Martial and Daniel James secured the win for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer side.

Although Chelsea were the better side in terms of possession and hit the post twice, United the more clinical side.

But Mourinho believes Chelsea lost because they were not compact defensively while he also questioned the choice of players Lampard started the game with.

Speaking while appearing as a pundit on SkySports, the Special One as he is fondly called believes Chelsea needed a little bit of experience in the match.

They were not compact defensively and there wasn’t enough aggression on the ball. The defensive line was never compact,” said Mourinho.

Mourinho continued: “My feeling is that today they had the possibility to play with more know-how.

“Alonso, Kante and Giroud were on the bench. To come to Old Trafford, even if it’s not the huge Manchester United team that used to scare people, it’s still Manchester United, it’s the first match at home, first match of the season, people are excited. A little bit of experience would fit well with the team.

Nevertheless, Lampard will be hoping to get a reaction from his side when they take on Liverpool in the UEFA Super Cup on Wednesday.
