Super Eagles forward, Kelechi Iheanacho may be forced to leave Leicester City this summer after the Foxes signed Ayoze Perez from Newcastle on Thursday.
Iheanacho, who is the Foxes third choice striker behind Jamie Vardy and Okazaki, found playing time difficult last season. He joined the former Premier League winners in 2017 for a reported fee of 25m pounds but has failed to hit the ground running, scoring just four goals in 51 appearances.
With the arrival of Perez to the attacking fold of Leicester City, Brenden Rogers may be thinking of selling or loaning the Nigerian international in order to play regular football elsewhere.
Recall that Iheanacho was dropped from the Super Eagles squad at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations by Gernot Rohr due to his inability to command a regular shirt.
On the other hand, Pérez, who has scored the winning goal on each of his previous two visits to King Power Stadium, spent the last five seasons on Tyneside and enjoyed his best Premier League campaign to-date in 2018/19, when he found the net 12 times.
Three times a winner of Newcastle’s Goal of the Season Award, Perez is one of the Premier League’s most exciting talents, with pace, trickery and an eye for goal that will add plenty to City’s attacking ranks ahead of their top-flight opener at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday 11 August.
