The Blues legend was confirmed as the club’s new boss last week, signing a three-year deal.  He comes in as a replacement for Maurizio Sarri who left the club at the end of last season to join Italian champions Juventus.

Lampard will be hoping to build on Sarri’s achievements last season which saw the Italian win the UEFA Europa League and also finished in the top three which ensured Chelsea’s return to the champions league.

However, he will have to build on that without Eden Hazard who left the Blues for Real Madrid this summer after seven years at Stamford Bridge. Lampard also faces the prospect of not being able to sign any play this summer after Chelsea were banned by FIFA for the next two transfer windows.

The Blues were banned by the world football governing body for breaching the rules and regulations guiding the signing of overseas underage players.

Nevertheless, Lampard will get the chance to see the level of his players when the Blues take on Irish side Bohemians on Wednesday night by 7:45 pm.  It also gives the players particularly the fringe players the chance to impress. The former Manchester City star revealed he will give everyone a clean slate and that gives the likes of Danny Drinkwater a chance to salvage their Chelsea future.
