Africa’s richest man Aliko Dangote and his billionaire friend Femi Otedola have joined a growing list of Nigerians that will be showering gifts on Super Eagles for their impressive performance at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations.

The Super Eagles have been brilliant so far in the biennial tournament and are just two matches away from winning their fourth continental title.

Following their second-round victory over defending champions Cameroon, The team was showered with financial rewards by prominent Nigerians including Federal Government delegation.

Lagos State Governor,  Babajide Sanwolu gave each player $5,000 following the victory over the Indomitable Lions, while Captain Hosea Okunbor gave each player $20,000 each.

It now appears their gestures have caught the eye of two of Nigeria’s prominent billionaires in Aliko Dangote and Femi Otedola.  Following the team’s quarter-final victory over South Africa last night,  Aliko Dangote promised the team $50,000 for each goal they score in the semi-final.

His billionaire friend Femi Otedola also promised the team $25,000 per goal. This was disclosed to the players by NFF president Ammaju Pinnick in a meeting he had with the players this morning.

The latest incentive will definitely spur the Super Eagles as they hope to reach their first AFCON final since 2013 when they take on Algeria or Ivory Coast who meet later today in the quarterfinal.
