Nigeria’s Flying Eagles narrowly lost 4-3 on penalties to Mali in the semi final of the Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations on Wednesday.

Both teams ended the regulation time playing 1-1 after Mali took the lead in the 78th minutes through Mamodu Traore before Nigeria levelled the score through Pascal Odureogbor in the 85th minutes to send the game to extra time.

However, the Malians booked their place in the final after converting four penalties while Nigeria scored only three.

Nigeria will now play for the bronze medal in the Third Place match against the loser of Senegal vs South Africa tie on Saturday.
