Paris Saint-Germain forward and Barcelona transfer target Angel Di Maria has revealed why the Argentina skipper Lionel Messi should win this summer's FIFA World Cup.

Argentina came so close to winning the World Cup in 2014 though Germany lifted the trophy after a 1-0 win following extra-time in the final and Di Maria who will aim to help his country win their first World Cup since 1986 feels Messi deserves to win in Russia this summer.

“There is no doubt that football owes a World Cup to Leo [Messi], for everything he's achieved in his life.

“Of course, we want to help him.” Di Maria who started as Argentina beat Italy 2-0 in a friendly on Friday night thanks to goals from Ever Banega and Manuel Lanzini told Ole

Messi who scored four goals in that tournament in Brazil as he went on the hunt for international honours has never won a major trophy with Argentina though he did win Olympic Gold in 2008 and the U-20 World Cup in 2005.
