Barcelona says they are ‘ready’ to sign Philippe Coutinho in the January transfer window.
Coutinho was the subject of multiple failed bids from the Catalan giants this summer. Liverpool’s resolve was further tested by the actions of Coutinho, who handed in a transfer request and sat out the first six games of the season.
After their world-record £198m sale of Neymar to PSG, Barca still have plenty of cash left in the bank to go for Coutinho and they’re ready to use it, according to the club’s chief executive Oscar Grau.
“We are ready to sign Coutinho or any other player the technical staff request in the winter window,” he said on Wednesday.
“We want to have the most competitive squad possible. The club will be sustainable, we don’t want losses. If that is the case, we will look for means to generate income.”
