Valverde’s view on Barcelona new signing

Barcelona Coach Ernesto Valverde believes that his new signing Paulinho will add some desired changes the Barcelona squad in terms of physicality and strength.

The Blaugrana signed the Brazilian international, 29, from Guangzhou Evergrande in a €40m deal earlier this week, despite concerns from the club’s fans that he would not improve the squad.

“Paulinho is an important player for Brazil’s national team,”Valverde told reporters.

“He’s a regular in their side and is integral to what they do and how they play, you can see his influence on games.

“From a technical point of view, he is an important player and he is also physically strong which is something we lack a little bit of – he will add another dimension to us as we don’t have a player like him.

“When he is on the pitch he will be important for us too and you will see that this season.”

Barcelona will play Real Madrid for the second leg of the Spanish Super Cup on Wednesday at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Real Madrid won 3-1 at the Camp Nou in the first leg of the encounter.

Ok. So we reluctantly sell a legendary player and our response to this is to buy a useless and washed up player for so much money?? Have we lost the plot? We won't pay £32m for Inigo Martinez but fork out £40m for this flop! There's a lot of dead wood we should clean out and raise about £120m by selling Arda, Vermaelen, Gomes, Rafinha, Munir and Douglas. We clearly have no use for them. Add that to the Neymar cash and we should be able to buy Coutinho, Hazard AND Dembele.
