Copa Del Rey winner Barcelona has reportedly ended their pursuit of Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin due to concerns over his “technical ability”.
The 22-year-old has been one of the La Liga side’s top targets this summer as they look to solve their problems at right-back, with recent reports suggesting that the Spaniard’s agent was actively looking to facilitate a transfer.
According to Spanish publication Sport, however, the Barca board have now had a change of heart after growing concerned about his “technical ability and general fitness”.
The £35m price tag of Bellerin, who has had recurringproblems with his ankle, was also thought to be considered too expensive by some executives at the club.
The newspaper claims that Ernesto Valverde’s side will now turn to Chelsea’s Cesar Azpilicueta and Nelson Semedo of Benfica in their search for reinforcements.
Bellerin is currently on holiday following his exploits for Spain at the Under-21s European Championships but is expected to join the Gunners on their pre-season tour shortly.
