Manchester City have kick started negotiations for a new deal for Tosin Adarabioyo, an England Youth international who is of Nigerian descent.
According to the Telegraph the case of Adarabioyo is unique compared to other City players who also have their contracts running out this summer.
“Midfielder Yaya Toure, defenders Pablo Zabaleta, Gael Clichy and Bacary Sagna, winger Jesus Navas and goalkeeper Willy Caballero all have contracts that expire in June. The one exception is England Under-19 defender, Tosin Adarabioyo, with City intalks about a new deal, with the player out of contract this summer,” the Telegraph wrote.
Already Pep Guardiola has stated that he would take his time before any of the affected players get an extension.“We’ll make the decision at the end of the season,” the City manager said ahead of Sunday’s visit to Sunderland.
“They have to try to keep going, to convince me every day.
“There are six players out of contract but they know the situation. Of course there is a risk, maybe they can sign a contract for another club and we have to accept that. But we are going to decide in the last months of the season.
While it is hopeful that City and Adarabioyo will agree for a new deal, the young defender is not short of option as the likes of Everton, Celtic and even Tottenham are said to be interested in the 19-year old.
