Zamalek of Egypt are expected in Lagos today ahead of their CAF Champions League second leg last qualifying round game against Enugu Rangers on Sunday.
The 2016 finalists beat Rangers 4-1 in Cairo last week and have vowed to repeat the feat in Nigeria. The teamis expected to jet in on an EgpytAir flight and move directly to Enugu to prepare for the encounter.
Reports from the Egyptian team’s camp indicate that Zamalek, who have been training for Sunday’s game since Monday, are coming all out for a win in Enugu.
Zamalek’s Coach, Mohamed Helmy believes the tie is still open, adding he would do everything possible to ensure his team moved to the group stage of the competition.
“The second leg requires more concentration to guarantee the qualification to the next round,” hew said.
Meanwhile, Enugu Rangers General Manager, Christian Chukwu believes his outfit has what it takes to upturn the 4-1-goal deficit recorded in the first leg.
The former Super Eagles coach and NFF technical committee member said the loss in Egypt has compelled Rangers to work hard to win comfortably in Enugu, adding that qualifying for the next round of the league remains important for the club.
“Rangers will surely qualify for the next round of the Champions League. Football is all about home and away. The final game of the encounter is on Sunday and we are ready to face Zamalek. The players are in high spirit. Zamalek would be under pressure because they are playing away and we have what it takes to change the score line,’’ he said.
