Legendary goalkeeper, Essam El-Hadary lifted Record African champions Egypt to the final of the 2017 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) after they defeated Burkina Faso 4-3 on penalties following a 1-1 draw after extra time.
The 44-year-old goalkeeper who won the Total Man-of-the-Match award, still defying his age, produced two brilliant one-handed saves to block penalties from his Burkina counterpart Herve Koffiand Ajax Amsterdam’s on-loan forward Bertrand Traore.
Star man Mohamed Salah gave the seven-time champions the lead before Burkina Faso forward Aristide Bance levelled matters for the West African nation. Either side couldn’t add to their tally thus forcing the dreaded penalty shoot-outs.
Egypt will now face the winner of the second semi-final clash between the Black Stars of Ghanaand Indomitable Lions of Cameroon tomorrow in the final on Sunday.
