Enugu Rangers coach, Imama Amapakabo insists the team will bounce back to winning ways against Nasarawa despite falling 2-1 to Akwa United on Sunday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in their opening Nigeria Professional Football League match.

The reigning champions were expected to ride over the Abia Warriors with ease but met a formidable side that shocked the home team.

Amapakabo, who led the Flying Antelopes to win the 2015-2016 NPFL title, also deputize as the assistant coach of the Super Eagles. He told Soccernet.com.ng through a telephone conversation on Sunday that Enugu Rangers would put behind their 2-1 against Abia Warriors and focus on winning their next match against Nasarawa United.

“It’s a bad day in the office for me to have lost our first league match against Abia Warriors even though there are no small teams again. We played well but the goals wasn’t just forthcoming for my players who more of the attacking,” Amapakabo told Soccernet.com.ng.

“To be fair, we deserved to win the match, however, I am confident my team we will bounce back to winning ways when we face Nasarawa United. It doesn’t matter whether we are playing home or away considering the fact that if Abia can defeat us at home, then why can’t we do the same thing.”
