| Alcacer closer than ever to joining Barça |
The search for a striker continues for FC Barcelona and it is no longer news that Valencia 22-year old goalscorer Paco Alcacer is the priority of the Catalan club and the latest report suggest the player is ‘closer than ever’ to joining the club.
According to Valencia outlet Superdeporte, Paco Alcacer is ridiculously close to joining Barcelona and the transfer is in the final stage and could be announced by the end of this week. The transfer looked to have been dead during the last few hours but recent progress meant it has been reactivated and negotiations are seriously ongoing. The player would have communicated his desire to leave Valencia and his recent showing in Valencia’s 4-2 home loss to Las Palmas showed his heart is set outside the Mestalla.
This has made Valencia owner Peter Lim immediately seek a transfer, he is set to accept an offer of €30 million plus Munir and Samper on loan. According to the report, Alcacer has already agreed to join Barça, Peter Lim (Valencia owner) is in support of the transfer but club president Lay Hoon Chan and Sporting director Suso Garcia Pitarch are reluctant in letting their man go as the fans won’t be happy due to the fact that they see Alcacer as an emblem of the club. In short, Alcacer leaving will be considered as ‘treason’.
Catalan publication Mundo Deportivo also reported that there was a meeting between Peter Lim and Barça’s president Josep Maria Bartomeu and there was a handshake between both parties, there is an agreement in place for the transfer of Alcacer to Barça and it could be done in the next couple of hours. Mundo Deportivo also suggest that the transfer for Alcacer was reactivated due to the economic meltdown of Valencia and they need to sell their star man in order to balance the books.
Barça offer 30 million Euros for Alcacer, a fee that will do a lot of good for the Valencia club and Peter Lim is very happy with the offer given that two young players in Munir El Haddadi and Sergi Samper will be joining too.
Paco Alcacer clearly wants to leave, his silence says it all. He’s between a rock and a hard place, he cannot make his intention known publicly and the decision is in the hands of Valencia. The fact is that Alcacer won’t force a move away from Valencia despite his intention to join Barça. The club love him and he loves the club, he will only move if Valencia allow and according to recent reports, that is very likely to happen.
