Three first half goals by Brazilian Da Silva, Ghanaian Kofi and Seka Pascal helped Ifeanyi Ubah humiliate a lackluster Shooting Stars.
The Ibadan Warlords got served out of the bitter meal they dished out to MFM FC last weekend, as Ifeanyi Ubah ran goal-crazy at the FC Ifeanyi Ubah Stadium in Nnewi.
Shooting Stars, having flogged MFM FC by three unreplied goals, travelled to Nnewi with the swagger of a side on a high but got blown out of the playing field by the Anambra Warriors.
Ifeanyi Ubah who were humbled 2-0 in Port Harcourt a few days ago, turned the table dishing out a comprehensive beating to 3SC.
Mitko Dobrev’s boys quickly set about getting the right results at home and should have scored as earlier as the sixth when Alberico da Silva struck a fine shot from the edge of the area but 3SC’s safe-hands Fabiyi made a good save.
But the hosts could not be denied for so long.
With 9 minutes gone, the opening goal arrived with a superb strike that could only have been made in Brazil. Albérico Barbosa da Silva sent a delightful freekick into the top corner, which a hapless Fabiyi had no antidote to.
With almost 40 minutes played, it was 2-0. Midfielder Suleiman Mohammed cancelled out a couple of 3SC defenders with a sumptuous cut back for Kofi Nti who simply could not miss from four yards out.
The hosts soon got the third their fine play deserved with just a minute left in the first 45. Seka Pascal nodded home another brilliant Albérico’s corner kick.
It was turning into a rout.
But Wasiu Jimoh would bring some respectability into the scoreline for the visitors by grabbing a consolation goal for Shooting Stars following good work by Tunde Bright.
The win, Ifeanyi Ubah’s second of the campaign, leave the hosts with six points while 3SC return to Ibadan empty handed with only one win from their first three games this season.
