The Super Eagles are set to do battle with the Carthage Eagles in the second group game for both sides in the ongoing CHAN 2016. Nigeria thrashed Niger 4-1 in their opener while there was a four-goal thriller in the other game as Tunisia and Guinea shared the points.
SoccerNet Nigeria previews all the facts that make this encounter an exciting show to look forward to.
#1 The Carthage Eagles won the second edition of the tournament in 2011, in only their first appearance at the competition. They defeated Angola 3-0 in the finals hosted in Sudan. Nigeria has never won the competition but the home-based Super Eagles secured third place in their debut appearance in 2014 in South Africa.
#2 After Round 1 of matches, Group C, which has Nigeria, Niger, Tunisia, and Guinea has witnessed the most goals scored at the 2016 CHAN. Nine goals by five different goalscorers make Group C the most entertaining group to watch.
#3 Nigeria’s 4-1 triumph over Niger Republic in Group C’s Match Day 1 is presently the biggest win recorded.
#4 All four teams in Group C have scored at least one goal each, meaning it is the Group that has not kept any clean sheet so far at the tourney.
#5 Interestingly, the three top goalscorers in the competition are all in Group C. Nigeria’s Chisom Chikatara lead the pack with 3 goals, closely followed by Tunisia’s Ahmed Akaïchi, and Guinea’s Alsény Camara who both have 2 goals each.
#6 Nigeria and Tunisia have never met at any stage of the CHAN competition until now.
