Obafemi Martins Is Seattle Sounders MVP For Second Year In a Row

For the second straight season, Nigeria international Obafemi Martins has been named the Most Valuable Player of Major League Soccer side Seattle Sounders.

The attacker joins Osvaldo Alonso as the only players to have won the prestigious award on more than one occasion.

In the 2015 campaign, Martins finished with 15 goals from 24 games , the most by a Seattle Sounders player over the course of the season, despite battling an injury for two months.

In other performance indices, the experienced forward led the way in the league shots-on-goal percentage (66.7) and his scoring percentage (35.7) was first in MLS.

The 31 – year – old assisted the Super Eagles advance to the group stage of the World Cup qualifiers, featuring off the bench in both games against Swaziland.
