SoccerNet Nigeria:
Ex-international, Henry Nwosu, has faulted new Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh on his players’ invitation procedure, saying the idea may not help the former captain to achieve positive results especially when not many Nigerian players are playing for top teams abroad.
The former Juventus player who was unveiled on Wednesday by the Nigeria Football Federation as the new Super Eagles coach, said shortly after his presentation in Abuja, that only players playing regularly for top divisions in recognised leagues will be invited to play for the senior national team.[post_ad]
But Nwosu disagreed with the idea, saying there could still be some talented players that are not lucky enough to play for top divion clubs and yet can contribute positively to the Super Eagles.
“I think I will like to disagree with Oliseh on the procedure he has highlighted for players invitation to the Super Eagles,” Nwosu told Complete Sports. “Yes we need quality players to play for Nigeria but not all the players will be lucky enough to secure contracts with top clubs and yet can contribute positively to the senior national team.

“I just want him to work hard and see how the talents can be identified so that they can be useful to Nigeria. Some of the players we have playing for top division clubs are not even regular for their clubs, so if we have few that are playing regularly and playing in big clubs that are not in top division, I think they should be given the opportunity to play for Nigeria.
“We all saw what Clemens Westerhof did here and how helpful it was to our football. Not all the players that played under Westrehof were playing for top division clubs yet Nigeria performed excellently well.”

Nwosu however called on the Nigeria Football Federation and Nigerians to support the new coach in his bid to take Nigerian football to the next level.
“All we can do to help Oliseh succeed, is for every Nigerian and the FA to support him,” he added.
