Nigeria Super Eagles Coach, Stephen Keshi has said that the U20 Flying Eagles might win the ongoing World Cup in New Zealand.
“They are potential world champions,” he said in a chat with journalists on Thursday after the Super Eagles’ training in Abuja. “We need to focus and every other team is a potential world champion. You just have to take it game by game; no anxiety, play with a purpose and they will achieve their goals.
“I don’t think there is any shaking because the team is not a bad team. Yes, we lost the game against Brazil but they came up this morning (in the match against Korea) and made themselves and Nigerians proud.”
Mr. Keshi said the Flying Eagles are at an advantage because they have been together for a long time and urged them to focus because Hungary is a good team.
Speaking about the players’ chances at the senior national team, Mr. Keshi said if they work hard they will make it into the Super Eagles.
“It is the dream of every player to play in the senior team, are they ready?” he said. “What will they be doing? What’s the concentration level and the desire? If they stay focused and take football as a career I think it’s a bright future for Nigerian football.”
