FIFA U20 CUP: ‘If we beat Brazil we win the cup’- Kanu

Former Super Eagles captain Nwankwo Kanu has challenged the Flying Eagles to beat favourites, Brazil, if they are to pose a significant threat at the FIFA U20 World Cup.
The Nigerian U20’s open their campaign at the ongoing FIFA U20 World Cup in New Zealand with a highly anticipated clash against the junior Samba Boys of Brazil on Monday, and Kanu believes the Nigerians must win the game if they are to send a message across.
“Playing Brazil in their first game is good, if you want to be a champion you have to play the best and beat them and Brazil is one of the best.

“It’s good they are playing Brazil in their first game because it will give us a clearer picture on how our team is.

“I think it’s also good for the coaches because I know they want to prove something and so also are the players so it is good we are playing Brazil first.

“But to show we are ready we have to beat them and if we beat them the tournament is ours,” Kanu said.
The match comes up at Taranaki Stadium in New Plymouth at 2am Nigerian time on Monday.
