Trabzonspor make fresh transfer decision on Bruno Onyemaechi as Boavista insist on ₦4.7 billion deal

Trabzonspor’s bid to secure Nigerian international Bruno Onyemaechi from Portuguese side Boavista has reportedly stalled due to disagreements over the transfer fee, Soccernet.ng understands.

The Turkish club submitted a €2.5 million offer, but Boavista rejected the bid, insisting on a €3 million (approximately ₦4.7 billion) valuation for the defender, according to Portuguese publication, A Bola.

Onyemaechi, 25, has been a standout performer for Boavista this season, clocking 1,476 minutes in 17 matches and contributing two goals from left-back. His attacking input and defensive reliability have made him a key player for the team.

However, with his contract running out in the summer of 2026, Boavista are in no rush to part with the Nigerian, especially as they prepare for an important clash against Casa Pia on Monday.

Trabzonspor’s interest in Onyemaechi stems from their need to replace Turkish international full-back Evren Eren Elmali, who is set to join Galatasaray for €4 million. The club views Onyemaechi as the ideal successor and hoped to finalise the deal quickly to maintain squad stability.

However, Boavista’s demands have left Trabzonspor reconsidering their options.

The Portuguese club, which sold Pedro Malheiro to the Turkish side earlier this season, has adopted a firm stance on Onyemaechi’s valuation.

Onyemaechi joined Boavista from Feirense in 2022 initially on loan before the transfer was made permanent the following year for one million euros.

The former Vila Real star is a full-fledged Nigerian international with 11 caps to his name since making his debut in September 2023.

Onyemaechi was a member of the Super Eagles squad that reached the final of the Africa Cup of Nations last February.
