CAS Dismiss Barcelona Appeal Against Transfer Ban
It has been officially announced by the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) that the transfer ban imposed on FC Barcelona by FIFA will stand.
The Catalan giants were banned by FIFA from signing players until 2016 but they took the case to CAS, making an appeal against the ban but on Tuesday, the 30th of December 2014, CAS announced that the appeal had been dismissed and the ban stands.
You may be surprised why i am rejoicing that the ban was upheld, well, it is for our own good as sources from Spain claims sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta will be fired and Ex-captain Carlos Puyol will take his place at the Camp Nou. Isn’t that pleasing to the ear?
Also, Right back Martin Montoya will stay at the Club for at least two more seasons and the likes of Adama Traore, Sergi Roberto and Samper will not have the course to leave the Nou Camp.
The ban means Barca won’t sign any player in the next two transfer windows, i.e both the winter and summer window of 2015. Although, we are free to sign players during the winter window of 2016, it is rare in Barca policy and there is perhaps a very tiny chance of making any signing during that period but players may leave the club. So let us be expecting Barca’s next signing in the summer transfer window of 2016. Wow!
