Wilfred Ndidi has been linked with several clubs this summer, but none of his admirers had made headway

Leicester City have rejected a €7 million bid from Turkish Super Lig club Besiktas for Nigerian midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, Soccernet.ng reports.

This summer, Ndidi has attracted interest from multiple clubs despite having two years left on his contract. This does not come as a surprise though.

His club, Leicester City, got relegated from the English Premier League last season, and bigger clubs usually hover around relegated clubs to get their best players since they are usually cheaper.

In Ndidi's case, the speculations surrounding his future have increased since it was revealed that he has a clause in his contract that sees his release clause drop to €9 million if Leicester City get relegated.

Ndidi has been linked to clubs like Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Dortmund, Manchester United, Juventus, Besiktas and Fenerbahce. He also has admirers from the Saudi Pro League.

However, none of these clubs have made a move on the 28-year-old yet. But in a recent report, per Turkish outlet Takvim, Besiktas already sent in a €7 million bid, which Leicester City rejected.

The bid is €8 million lesser  than Ndidi's actual €15 million value on Transfermarkt and €2 million less than his new release clause which took effect following Leicester City's relegation.

Will Wilfred Ndidi leave Leicester City?

In the meantime, the Super Eagles star has been heavily involved in the club's pre-season, as they prepare for their return to Championship football. Ndidi has featured in most of their games so far.

This situation is quite rare if a player is likely to leave a club. So, Ndidi might yet remain at Leicester City. He is the most senior member of the team now that Jamie Vardy has left.

Perhaps, he wants to stay there and lead the club to Premier League promotion next season.
