Super Eagles midfielder Tochukwu Nnadi returned to action for Marseille when they took on Troyes at Stade de l'Aube on Sunday.
The 23-year-old midfielder had suffered a knee injury a week before the international break, prompting fears that he might be sidelined for an extended period. The setback also ruled him out of international duty with Nigeria.
However, last week, Soccernet.ng reported that the young midfielder was fully fit and ready to return to action. He was even tipped to start due to an injury to Danish midfielder Pierre-Emile Højbjerg.

Nevertheless, on Sunday at Troyes, coach Bruno Génésio opted to start him on the bench. Nnadi was eventually introduced in the 73rd minute, replacing Nouhoum Kamissoko.
After his introduction, the Super Eagles star gave a good account of himself, completing all 12 of his passes and maintaining the intensity of the team.
At the time Nnadi was introduced into the match, the Phocaeans were a goal down. But they finished the game on a high, with Himad Abdelli scoring a penalty to ensure the game ended 2–0 after 90 minutes. On Sofascore, he was rated 6.8 for his performance, the highest of all Marseille substitute on the night.

Up next for Marseille is a fixture against Olympiacos in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday, and Nnadi will be hoping to get minutes or even start.
How Can Tochukwu Reclaim His Super Eagles Spot?
Tochukwu Nnadi appears to be a player that Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle genuinely likes. He made his debut at the Africa Cup of Nations earlier this year and was also invited to subsequent camps in May and June.

He was expected to be part of the squad for the opening games of the 2027 AFCON qualifiers against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau last month, but his injury appeared to have ruled him out.
However, there is another international break next month where Nigeria will play a double-header against Tanzania, meaning Nnadi could return to the fold in no time.
To make it back, though, he must play regularly for his club. Nnadi needs consistent minutes for Marseille and must prove that he is at the top of his game.
There are clear opportunities in the Super Eagles' midfield, so if Nnadi performs well, he will definitely get his chance.
